S'mores Chocolate making kit

S'mores.  Summer campfires.  Perfect toasted (or burned, no shaming here) marshmallows sandwiched between golden graham crackers with sweet, rich chocolate holding it all together.

What's not to love?

What's that?  The amazing homemade dark chocolate you used didn't melt like you remember it when you were a kid?  Yeah, I've had that happen too and someone recently challenged me to supply them with some chocolate so they could take it camping and have s'mores around the campfire and make a gooey, delectable, delectable mess.  Challenge accepted.

It may be a bit sweeter than you are accustomed to but trust me, this is a case of 'if it is worth doing, it is worth overdoing'.

The key to getting it to melt is using one of a couple different oils.  You can either use the Heavy Cream powder we are offering or you can add the same amount (5%) of coconut oil you supply yourself (sorry, we have no good way to package and ship an oil that melts so easily).

Coconut oil is usually something that can give you trouble when tempering but in this case turns into an advantage when wrapping it up and putting it in the fire.

So if you don't mind adding your own coconut oil or want your s'mores chocolate dairy free just pick 'No Cream'.

Like all the chocolate making kits, you'll need a Melanger and basic kitchen equipment.

And don't forget to check out the tab to the right where I tell you how to make the best S'mores ever.

This is how we did it in Boy Scouts.  I've come to learn everyone doesn't make them this way.  They really should.  They are amazing.

Ingredient:

  • Chocolate from Chocolate Alchemy's S'mores Kit
  • Graham crackers
  • Marshmallows

Equipment:

  • Pointy stick or skewer
  • Aluminum foil
  • Campfire (oven at home ok too)
  1. Tear off a piece of aluminum foil about 8"x8"
  2. Lay on 3"x3" piece of graham cracker in the center and have a 2nd one ready to top your masterpiece with.
  3. Place a thin piece of S'more chocolate on the graham cracker, and again, have a 2nd one to sandwich in later.
  4. Put a marshmallow or two on your pointy stick or skewer and hold it 8-12" over your picturesque campfire.  Slowly rotate the marshmallow until it turns a wonderful burnish caramel color.  Take you time keeping the stick level lest your burnished wonder slide into the fire.
  5. When your marshmallow is perfect, being careful not to burn yourself, slide it onto your waiting piece of cracker and chocolate.
  6. Top with the other piece of chocolate and the other cracker.
  7. Press down slightly to set everything in place.
  8. Wrap up the S'mores package in the aluminum foil and set the whole thing around the edge of the fire for 2-4 minutes.  Feel free to rotate it halfway though.
  9. Pull it out, gently open it and enjoy the best S'more of your life.
  10. Better yet, share it with a friend and wait for them to ask for some more S'more please.
